Review: Etude House Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base #03 Peach Choux

Hi there! I'm here with another review from Étude house! This is the Baby Choux Base in #3 Peach Choux from their new Sweet Recipe line. I really love everything from that line. :D
There are 3 different types, #1 is Mint, which reduces redness, #2 is Berry is for pale skin, and #3 Peach is to brighten the skin.

I toke a lot of pictures of the box, because it was just too cute!

Top yummy *_*

The glass jar on the inside has a much simpler design. I love the fact it comes with a spatula, and the jar is made of glass!

Looks creamy!

Swatch!

I made my skin feel so so smooth, and looked much brighter!

Bare face.

With base, as you can see, my skin is MUCH brighter/whiter/paler :P
It also smoothed out my complexion and covered freckles.

I found this makeup base to be fantastic! It has a creamy texture that goes on so smoothly and absorbs quickly. It leaves my skin an interesting feeling of hydration on the skin side and soft smoothness on the outside. It mattefies my skin to a natural powdery finish, without looking cakey.

The coverage is quite high, so sometimes I can even skip the foundation/BB cream step. However, it does leave the skin looking very pale and a bit washed out, so when I do apply foundation, I prefer a light water based BB cream, such as Dream Fresh BB from Maybelline. I tried it out with both water and oil based BB cream, and it makes application for both much more even and allows for more coverage. I do find water based BB creams to apply more smoothly though.

The wear of this base is quite good. From my experience, under a BB cream, this will last the entire day. Without it, it'll still last around 4-5 hours.

It contains SPF 25 PA++, which is always a plus for sure, but since most Foundations/BB creams do already contain SPF, that extra protection may not be as advantageous.

The scent is a sort of a sweet peachy, powdery type. Personally I am neutral to it, I do like peachy scents, but this one is a bit artificial. However, the scent is not overwhelming, and I do not smell it after application.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants extra coverage along with their current foundation/BB cream routine without looking extra cakey. If you have oily skin, this would also help to mattify your skin. Or if you just want a brighter complexion, this would do the trick as well. :)

Pros
  • Great coverage
  • Hydrates and smooth-ens skin
  • Mattifies skin
  • Brightens skin
  • Not cakey/heavy
  • Long wear
  • Great under Foundation/BB cream
  • Includes a spatula
  • Cute packaging
Cons
  • May leave skin looking washed out
  • May be too pale for some skin tones
  • Artificial scent (not too strong)

If you have tried this product, please tell me how you liked it, I would love to know!
That's all for today, thanks for reading!
Have a great Easter holiday! :D

  2. Ah! I really like this base! But did you find your foundation/bb cream sliding around on your face with this base on? That's the only huge complain I have about it =[ other wise, I really like the smell of this product! I know it's a turn off for some people but I find it pleasing ^_^

    1. Hmm, I don't think I have had that problem. But Sometimes if I use too much it'll accentuate my dry, flaky areas. =/

  8. I sure you can use a powder after too! This just preps your skin to be smooth, so BB creams, and powders can go over it smoothly!
Thanks for reading Marita, hope you'll like it too! :)
