Mini Review: Tony Moly Luminous Pure Aura CC Cream

Hello~
Today I have another mini review! This time it's of a CC cream from Tony Moly!
This is the first time I'm trying out a CC cream, really excited to see if it lives up to its hype. ^o^
Maybe it's time for me to jump on the CC cream bandwagon too. ;D
Read on to see my first impression~

BTW Please check out my Etude House Cotton Fit BB Cream giveaway here + my 110+ Readers Thank You giveaway here if you are interested. :)
I like how simple and shiny the packaging design is. :3

It contains SPF30 PA++  and CC=Colour Change! I'm really intrigued by colour changing products, but at the same time I find it a bit gimmicky. xP

Full product is 50ml.
Price is around $14-18 CAD.

It's creamy white with tiny micro blue beads, which probably contains the colour capsules.

Partially blended out on my arm. There is a colour change to a very light beige colour. I waited with it partially blended for 10 minutes to see if it's going to change to a darker colour to match my arm, but it pretty much just stayed like this the whole time. :P

Bare face and after CC cream applied.

First Impression:
When I first squeezed it out it feels very creamy, and thicker than I imagined it to be. Blending it out, it quickly turned in to a very light beige colour, I don't think it got any darker though. As you can see from the pictures above, the coverage is light, but it reduced some redness, appearance of freckles, and pores. It doesn't feel heavy and the texture is light, but not as much as I thought it would be. And it left just a hint of stickiness. I also noticed it accentuated into my dry spots a bit. There was also an artificial scent at first, but that diffused to a lighter floral (?) scent. It's still a bit too strong for me but it doesn't smell bad. :P

Will I Purchase the Full Product?
Probably not, I want to try other CC creams too! This one in particular didn't feel as light as I wanted it to be . But the coverage is alright, it's light, but still does its job. I still prefer my Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB for the summer though! >.<
I really do wonder about its colour changing capabilities, does it actually change colour according to skin tone using some refraction technology? Or some kind of pH related science-y stuff.? lol xP  Or maybe it's just some pigments in a capsule. o.o

Have you tried this CC cream or any other type of CC creams? Any recommendations? ^.^

Thanks for reading! I hope this was enjoyable~
 I'll another post soon~
So see you then! :D

  2. I don't know, I guess it's a bit sticky? haha I think I have too high of an expectation for CC creams xP
Ohh lucky! Can't wait to see your review too~ Thanks Nhi :)

  3. I was torn between tony moly cc cream or Etude cc cream d I ended up getting étude cc cream haha. But it looks good on your skin, Chee :) is it creamy though? Cause I read some reviews saying it turns rather oily after few hours xD anyway thanks for the review :)

  5. I like the fact that cc creams are light. I'm not sure though if I'm going to get one from tony moly because others said that there's no oil control. I ordered one from etude (silky) and hope it would work on me. How I wish I could get samples of different cc creams so that I get to try it first before buying the full size. :p I'm curious about banilla co and hera cc :)) Thanks for the review chee.:)

  7. Hi! I was wondering if this lasts all all day and does it become oily? I've read some reviews saying that it gave a glowy look. However, I think I might try Etude House CC cream instead because I don't like the sticky feeling. Anyway, it looks great on your skin :) Thanks for the review ^_^

  8. I have a full review on my blog on this and I actually love it. I actually find the formula to be quite lightweight and non-sticky unless you're in a very humid or warm environment. I was very intrigued by the colour changing technology which is why I bought it, which was before Etude House released theirs.

  9. I haven't try this cc cream before but i hear many good compliment about that but it's back again with our skin type, maybe?
Btw, i'm about to try etude house cc cream, can't wait to post hahaha

  10. Thank you! Such a useful information! Where can we get samples ?

  11. I've tried this and so mall I am loving it! although it barely has any coverage but I do loved the dewyness! ^_~

  12. The colorchanging works very simple. Those beads open up the more you blend the cream in. That means the more you blend the darker it gets. I reviewed once the body shop bb cream. This one had the same technology . In the end, looking back at this cream from bodyshop I would say they created a CC cream instead of a BB cream XD

  13. I've seen brands all coming out with their own CC creams and even DD creams. I haven't tried any yet but will soon since it's all the rage atm.

    Thank you for the review!

  14. Yep, it's the pigment capsules in the cream that makes it change color. Thanks for the review! ^^

  15. Haha Thanks MIsa! It is quite creamy, I was sorta expecting a more lighter, water-based consistency, so I actually don't find this to feel lighter than my other BB creams. It does get oily, especially on my nose! I don't know why it felt sticky too. >3< Can't wait to see your review on the Etude House one, really want to try that too :D

    ReplyDelete
  16. Thank you! I'll do a post on it some time :3

  17. Maybe I'm expecting too much from CC creams, but I don't really find this one much lighter than my Etude House, and Holika Holika BB creams. So I was quite disappointed. It did get oily after a couple of hours on my nose. I want to try the CC cream from Etude as well! Looking forward to your review on it! I want to try the hera cc and the face shop one :D

  18. Thanks Kim :D
I guess overall it's alright, but I was kind of biased since I was expecting much more from this product. xP

    ReplyDelete
  19. It's very light so I couldn't really tell if it lasted all day, but when I removed it there was still some. Oily control wise it's not that great, I have combination skin, and this made my nose area really shiny after a couple of hours. =/ I want to try those as well! Thank you for reading Be! :D

  20. I read your review and it made me really excited about this product! I guess I was expecting too much from CC creams, since it's really hyped up right now. I do like the sheer coverage though, but I don't know why but it feels sticky on my skin. Maybe this CC cream is just not for me. :P I want to try the Etude House CC cream! Thanks for reading!

  21. Ya I've heard of many good things about CC creams too! Hopefully I'll get more samples to try before I make a decision on which to buy hehe :D Can't wait for your review :3

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thank you! I got this sample for free from a purchase I made from the Ebay seller f2plus1. You can buy these samples for cheap on Ebay as well!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm glad you like it! I find this to look dewy too, but it get oily on my nose haha =3=

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh that's what I thought too, but they claim it'll somehow match my skin tone, so really what's the point of it being white at first then changing the colour xP lol
I guess back then they didn't have a new name for CC creams yet haha :D

    ReplyDelete
  25. Haha DD creams, I think they are taking it a bit too far :P I want to try more CC creams too, maybe find one I really like. Thanks for reading!

    ReplyDelete
  26. That's what I thought too, so I guess it's doesn't change colour according to my skin tone xP haha Thank for reading :D

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hahaha my fault then :P Yeah, possibly different environment and skin type. Everyone's different.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It's no ones fault ^^ It's nice to have different view points on products since like you said, everyone's different, skin type, environment etc. x)

  29. I'm still waiting for a truly awesome CC cream. >.> And reading everyone else's reviews to I don't have to go try them all myself. Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Haha good plan xD I'm still kind of iffy on the whole CC cream and how awesome it is. Gotta try more!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks for the review! I don't own any cc creams yet because I nv see the need to invest in a product that does not do much. Like you, I also love my Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream. Haha But who knows, maybe one day I would!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Great post! I've not tried any CC creams yet, too many BB creams to finish off yet and still loads to try. I don't think I would purchase this one though because I have dry patches on my forehead and nose and really don't want them to be any more obvious than they already are, I need a moisturising CC cream xx

  33. Thanks for reviewing this product chee ^-^
Tbh, I tink the coverage of this cc cream is much lighter than most bb creams :o
I read a lot of reviews about cc creams and most of them said they prefer bb creams over them! :o
    somehow it's really disappointing :'c
I should really try that Aqua petit jelly bb cream since you're really in love with it :33 Do you know if there's a sample or something like that for that it? c:

    ReplyDelete
  34. Actually I purchased etude cc but I havent received yet, but I am also curious about other cc's to compare so , Thanks for review , advise and such a good blog ;)

  35. I've heard so many good things about this product, but I think I still need the coverage of a bb cream. Also, I nominated you for the Liebster Award. You can see it here.

  37. Ya I've heard some reviews say CC cream has pretty much the same functions as a BB cream, expect that they change colour haha, so that's why I thought it was a bit gimmicky. I would love to try more though, before I make a decision on how useful they are :P
    Thanks for reading ^^

    ReplyDelete
  38. Me too! That's why I haven't bought any CC creams, I don't want to waste money on makeup that I'm not going to finish. :< I hope you find a moisturizing CC cream, I would love to try it out too :D Thanks for reading Katy!

Awesome, I'm so glad someone reviewed this finally! Thank you for all the info, I haven't been seeing a lot of reviews on this particular CC cream so I was pretty curious. Would you say the finish is dewy or more on the matte side? Hmm, it's kind of a shame that it didn't really change color to adjust to your skin tone though, I think I would skip over this one then haha

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thanks Tiffany :D I would definitely say its on the dewy side. I've heard this doesn't offer much oil control, and it did get quite oily after a few hours on my nose. It's alright as a foundation, but I don't find anything special about this CC cream either. Thank you for reading!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I never tried CC cream, but it seems really good because it's not too thick.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I find this a bit sticky though. But the coverage is pretty nice :D thanks for reading!

I wondering what is the different between BB & CC cream,,why there's must be CC cream after BB cream,,bla-bla-bla my heads voice running wild,,lol :-p
Glad you review this CC cream :-D & now im curious about your chemical thought about CC cream colour changing capabilities,,im really curious (>_<)

  44. Hi dear:)
BB creams are make up products that are meant to provide you with heavy coverage, while cc cream have more skin care benefits and only offers light coverage for maintenance of healthy complexion~
