Review: Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream + Essence

Hello Hello everyone~
Happy Wednesday :D
I'm updating a bit less frequently these days (every 2-4 days) because I have found a volunteer position in addition to my job, and school, so really busy these days. I guess it's a good thing, I feel productive when I'm busy, and not lounging around. ^u^

Today I'm going to review the Etude House Moistfull Cream and Essence! I bought this few weeks ago, and  at first I was using it in the mornings and nights, but I found out it wasn't that great in the mornings (I'll explain later), so I'm just using it at night nowadays.

The essence is in a mini size that came as an extra with the cream *_* and I have never used an essence before so I had to look up what it does. Basically this essence contains Baobab tree extract which brings moisture and collagen to the skin to be fully absorbed. I suppose it penetrates deeper into the skin than a moisturizer, and contains more hydration properties.

Anyways, keep reading to see my full review on the cream and essence.~
BTW if you want to check out my giveaways, they are in the sidebar. :>
Happy orange packaging. :D

I'm surprised to see there are actually seven steps are in the Moistfull Collagen Skincare Regimen! I don't think I'll have the patience to go through so many steps every day. haha

I'll be reviewing the essence first, since it's a step before moisturizer.

This bottle is a mini size of only 20ml, I have been using this for about 3 weeks everyday, and I'm about half way through.

The texture and after blending it in.

Texture/Application
The texture is watery and slimy, gel-like. As you can see form the above picture, runny but still viscous to a slight degree. It's easy to blend, and it definitely gets absorbed, as I can feel it getting less watery on my skin, but it leaves behind a film of stickiness, and that takes a while to get absorbed. I usually need to wait around 10 minutes for this to dry first before applying the moisturizer. And that's the reason why I don't want to use it in the mornings, because I always wake up late and no way I'll time to wait around for another 10 minutes. =.=;

Effect
Since I always use this with the moisturizer, I can't say what effects it has buy itself. But right after applying this, it make my skin feeling super moisturized and smooth. So it's definitely hydrating. The collagen effects doesn't really show either because I don't have much wrinkles (yet lol), or the effects takes longer to show, or it just doesn't work, but I'm thinking it's probably a combination of the former two. Oh I should mention that I have normal skin currently, and I rarely get break outs.

Scent
I love this scent! Even though it's a bit strong. It's a sweet citrus scent, and it really energizing and make's me feel happy and alive. xD I'm smelling the bottle as I'm typing  huhu~

Okay! Let's move on to the cream!
This jar has a total of 60ml of product. I only used about 1/20th (very rough estimate) of the product after 3 weeks, so it's probably going to last a long time. I don't know why but my products always gets used up so slowly. I guess that's a good thing. ~_~

swirly :3
The jar is quite deep so I use a spatula to get the product out, too bad it doesn't include one though.

Texture and after blending it in.

Texture/Application
I love the texture of this cream! It's not too creamy and oily, and it's not too watery either. I feel like it has the perfect consistency, moisturizing but not too oily either. And this cream glides on to my skin so well, and it leaves a silky smooth feeling after too. *_* Unlike the essence, this does not leave a stickiness behind. When I use both the essence and cream together, however, it still becomes sticky. But, in the mornings after my skin is totally smooth.

Effect
It's sticky when I apply it with the essence (not when I only use the cream though!), but when I wake up, my skin feels so soft and smooth. =w= I never felt my skin this soft before, but probably it's because I wasn't really taking good care of it in the first place.
I do apply another moisturizer in the day, but when I don't, this also hydrates my face throughout the day.
The collagen effects are not that prominent, but I do feel a slight firming effect, and my skin feels a bit more bouncy. Nothing drastic though.
It doesn't break me out or produce anything undesirable. So I am loving this as of now. :D Hopefully when winter comes, it`ll still be as hydrating.

Scent
The scent is a muted, creamier version of the essence. Still very sweet and citrus-y. I absolutely love it! I can still smell it after applying it to my face, but it's attenuated after some time.

Overall
I love this moisturizer! Especially the cream, only because it's not sticky, but other than that, it makes my skin so smooth and soft, applies like a dream, and smells wonderful. And really I can't find anything bad about this product, and I might purchase it again after I'm done with this one. :3

Pros
  • Hydrates skin for a long period of time
  • Silky feeling after application (cream)
  • Skin feels smooth and soft
  • Does not break me out
  • Smells great
  • Easily absorbed by skin (cream)
  • Relatively cheap compared to other moisturizers
Cons
  • Sticky feeling (essence)
  • No spatula included

Okay that's it for this review!
Have you tried this? What kind of moisturizer do you use? :D

Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next post. ^^

  2. I love it! I was surprised by that too, usually moisturizers have water as first. But I haven't seen too much of the collagen effects just yet, but I do love the hydrating effects ^^

  24. I absolutely love the scent! Ya this cream is very hydrating, maybe a gel type moisturizer would suit oily combination skin better. :) Thanks for reading Rini!

  25. 2-4 days is still often, especially compared to me orz Good luck on your volunteer work though!
This wouldn't suit my skin, but I saw someone on Get It Beauty Self! (not sure if it was Sulli or...) mixing the Moistfull cream with her BB cream. Have you tried that? Maybe mixing it with the essence will make it less sticky. ^^

  26. I think I should hehehe.

  28. mmm sounds like a good candidate for a moisturiser - I'm contemplating the Tony Moly red appletox (gel moisturiser) but now i'm not sure any more! Is the cream more a lotion-y kind of thing or is it more like a gel?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm totally gonna try this product! Also the BB Cream like this too :D Thanks for the review~

  30. I would say it's a hybrid of a gel and cream, but I would lean more towards the gel side since it does feel watery and not sticky or heavy at all once applied on to the skin. I really like it!
I heard the Tony Moly appletox whitens too, sounds pretty nice as well. :D
    Thanks for reading Sam~

  51. Ya I think I need to wait a bit before going to sleep, a little bit sticky, but the morning effects are glorious, I never felt my skin this soft and smooth before! And I love the scent also! I'm going to repurchase this too ^^ Thanks for reading!

  52. Can you advise me what type of moistfull collagen should i use ? I have sensitive +oily skin.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think the moisturizer is suitable for all types of skin. Especially if you have oily skin, this moisturizer is not oily at all, it's more of a gel type, and I feel that it's very gentle too. But the scent is a bit strong.

  54. I have a bunch of sample packs of this cream in my drawer..guess I should try it out some time. Thanks for another great review, Chee!

okay firstly, thanks for your details information ! I like it very much ! but i still confuse about how to use it.What i mean is do we have to use cream first or essence first? and also how many times a week? can you please explain it to me ? i like etude house very much and i am a fan of etude house ! >.<

  65. Makeup With A HeartDecember 23, 2013 at 2:43 AM

Essence goes first because it's thinner in consistency and usually adds more beneficial skincare ingredients so you want those to go first. You can use it every day but if you find that it's too much moisture, you can just use it whenever you feel dry. You can of course use only the cream. Your skincare needs are different from me and different from Chee so you find what products and routine works best for you!

  66. I've only tried the sleeping mask from this line! I reviewed it on my blog. Sounds like I'd like the moisturizer too. :)

  67. If I stop buying and using this collagen containing product after I finish it will more wrinkles appear than before? Because i read somewhere that if you stop using any product it'll make your skin even worse so I'm worried><
