Review: Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

Hello!
Today I'll be reviewing the ever popular Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner! I have seen dozens of bloggers such as Astrophoria, Kittiecosmetics, and Tangerinebabi talk about this product with excellent reviews, so I was trying to use up my last toner as quickly as possible to try this out. xD

Etude House never disappoints with their colourful packaging.~

Product Description
This freshner is can be used as a  toner which focuses on maintaining a clean and minimized appearance of pores! It's said to have 7 functions of:
-Deep cleanse pores
-Maintain ph 4.5
-Control sebum
-Minimize appearance of pores
-Refine skin tones
-Keep elasticity of pores
-Moisturize the skin
It also comes in two sizes of either 250ml or 500ml. The one I have here is the 250ml, though I wish I had gotten the larger size for it's convenient pump!

Interestingly, another way to use this is to pour it into a spray bottle and mist it over your face as a refresher.~

The illustrations are adorable!

This toner does contain alcohol as the third ingredient, but so far I have not experienced any dryness that may be attributed to it. I have normal skin just to note.

The 250ml version comes with the usual cap and opening.

The circular shape of the bottle and the stiffness makes it a bit hard to control the flow. Sometimes I'm too careful and pour too little and other times it just dumps out. :(

Review
I use this toner after cleansing my face, and almost every time I would find makeup residue and tiny debris being picked up on the cotton pad! It really gives the skin a final cleansing before moving on to your skin care routine.

As for the pore cleansing and minimizing effects, I did not see a drastic change to the size of my pores right after using this, but I don't expect drastic changes right away anyway. However, after starting this toner the pore strips I used seems to have less black/white heads on them than compared to before I started using this toner, so maybe there are some pore tightening effects. Also, after using this for a few weeks I do feel less oily in my nose areas, even with the rising humidity and temperature, perhaps due to the sebum control of the toner.

I think this toner is more suited for oily skin types. I like the fact that this toner seems to remove most oils and dirt on the skin leaving a clean and fresh feeling, but it might be too drying for dry skin types. Although it feels cooling and refreshing during application, my skin felt a bit taut afterwards, and needed moisturizer.

As for the scent, there is a mild alcohol scent, it doesn't bother me much, but I would have preferred it to be something nicer.

Pros
-Tightens pores
-Cool and refreshing
-Removes dirt and residue
-Controls sebum
-Great for oily skin types

Cons
-Mild alcohol scent
-May be drying for dry skin types

4.5/5

Overall I really like this toner, and I think it works great for the pores and oily skin. I can definitely see myself purchasing the 500ml version next time.~

Thanks for reading! :)

  1. Ah! I was looking at this product when I was in Japan but didn't get it because I was spending too much money :P. Thanks for this honest review- my skin is really dry and hates products with alcohol in them! I don't think I'd try this one.
